Documentation of Freedom Day intervention projected on wall
Paper boats, plastic tubing, rocks

I have presented the documentation of my public intervention projected onto the wall. The boats are mounted into the rocks that formed part of the intervention, carrying their messages. The labels, upon which were written the notes of warning, have been integrated into the presentation in a new way. I have drawn in chalk a weather map on the floor of a cold front approaching the Western Cape – the major cold front that decimated the Cape in 1984 and blew in my bedroom window as a child. The isobars are labeled with the statements the public wrote on their labels during the intervention, about what could sink their boats. The fact that the map will disintegrate during the exhibition is part of the intention.
