Seeing like a Network

My current research project is about the network effects of independent art spaces. It maps the genealogy and conceptual migration of the artist-led Thupelo workshop model, meaning ‘to teach by example’, born in South Africa in the 1980s and migrating much further afield, ultimately giving birth to an international affiliation of mostly global South offspaces that maintain a common ethos linked to its origin story.
